Penny Island, 2002 PC250055KO
There comes a moment in the late fall on a northern lake when the surface freezes. It happens in a split second. One moment you can hear the water lapping at the dock and the next complete silence. Like a golf hole in one, few people ever experience this. I took this image of Penny Island on Lake Joseph seconds before the lake froze. The water was perfectly calm and reflected the stormy sky. If you look closely you will see that the image is actually inverted, a testament to the almost perfect symmetry nature let me capture on film that day.
