Helicopter Kite, 2007
There are some places on earth where helicopters are your only life line. The center of Greenland is a good example. It would be impossible to land a plane here or travel on the surface because the ice is always moving and dangerous mile deep fissures are constantly opening and closing. Weather had cut off our daily food drops for three days. This image is of our expedition leader guiding in our support chopper during a break in the storm. Both machine and man look like insignificant insects in the beautiful vastness of this moon-like place.
