One of the winged figures at the Hoover Dam in Colorado. This was designed by Sculptor Oskar Hansen using almost 4 tons of bronze. The desert light at the dam gives these statues a wonderful glow against the rock background. I think Hansen had a special talent in understanding the balance between art created by man on a giant scale and the natural surrounding that provides its perpetual home.
