Target Practice 2007

A spent metal shooting target sits in storage at a RAF military base in Northern England. His nickname is "Herman the German" or Figure 11. The light from a window struck the tarnished metal in a way that brought the imaginary soldier to life. I remember thinking that he must be immortal. This image always polarizes its viewers. It has been in storage so many decades that live moss has begun to grow on the metal. Life on an image of death.
