Greenland Summer Sun IMG_9954-RW

In July the sun never sets in Greenland. This is midnight on the ice at almost the epicenter of one of the world's largest ice fields. I spent 10 nights there working as a host on the Discovery Channel Show "Project Earth". I took this image as I walked away from the camp trying to get over a case of insomnia. I learned later that what I did was insane as one mile deep fissures can form in the ice at any time. If you fell into one they would find you in 10,000 years perfectly preserved. I never left the camp again. As was said in Apocalypse Now "never get out of the boat!".
