Title: Lani Abandoned Pineapple Farm, 2000
Pineapples are synonymous with Hawaii but today they are no longer grown there. What you find instead are the vestige of large plantations like the one captured in this image from the island of Lani. This pineapple field that was abandoned in 2008 when production moved to Thailand, Philippines and Brazil where costs are significantly less. Clearly something was lost in this economic transition and I think this image captures it.
